Federal Premium has come up with a novel design for a highly efficient .224-caliber cartridge that can push a 75-grain bullet to 3,000 fps. While some people might argue that the 22 Nosler already achieves this, it is a generalized cartridge. On the other hand, the 224 Valkyrie was engineered to perform a specific task better than any commercially available cartridge, which is not general in nature.

GM AR-15 Barrel is a 20-inch heavy barrel made of 416R stainless steel with a 1:7 twist rate and a rifle length gas system. It is chambered in .224 Valkyrie. All finished barrels undergo a 100% inspection process, which includes the use of CMMs and air gauges for the bores. GM expects that our barrels 16 inches or longer will hold a 1.000" MOA at 100 yards with appropriate ammunition and shooting techniques..
