5.56 BCG

The AR-15's bolt carrier group (or "BCG" for short) is responsible for the chain reaction that leads to semiautomatic fire when the trigger is pushed, allowing the bullet in the chamber to be discharged when the firing pin strikes the primer. The bolt carrier group in an AR-15 rifle or handgun is responsible for most of the firearm's most vital functions, and it does so by harnessing the expanding gas from the projectile. To access the gas/carrier key on the BCG, a gas tube must be threaded from the gas port on the barrel. The high-velocity gas is pumped into the BCG's body using this key. As a result, the BCG is free to move backward into the buffer tube, where it applies pressure to the buffer and the spring that holds it in place. As the buffer spring rapidly expands after being compressed, the BCG is launched back into the upper receiver. A new round will be chambered while the spent shell casing is expelled. This entire process takes less than a second, making it significantly quicker than a bolt-action rifle.

It's light!

It works! An aluminum bcg is considered an expendable part for a reason; the anodize rubs off the high-wear areas almost immediately. Still, it allows me to turn my gas down, and make my gun run a little softer. Keep it lubed and you'll be g2g.
